So, how much insulation is enough?
Living in Michigan, chances are you don’t have enough insulation in your attic.
Energy Star, the gold-standard for energy ratings in the United States, recommends homes in lower Michigan have a minimum of 14 inches of attic insulation.
Most homes in Metro Detroit average more than 50 years old, when building codes and techniques weren’t as strict as they are today. We’ve found the majority of homes in the area do not have adequate insulation. This means more of your hard earned money going right out the window to DTE or Consumers Energy.
Insulation, venting, thermodynamics… it can all be confusing to any homeowner, so we’ve made the process easy. Give us a call today and we can offer you a free energy audit and consultation to get you and your home on the right track.
Insulation almost always pays for itself in the long run. So don’t be left out in the cold— literally! — and give us a call for your free energy audit and inspection.

How much insulation should you have?
While Energy Star sets the minimum insulation rating at R-38 or 13.5" of insulation, it's usually always better to add as much as your home will allow, up to an R-60 (20.5"). We can also access your walls and crawlspace to ensure your home is fully insulated!
